This vase is not just exceptional but exquisite in classification of style and design made by Ando Jubei Cloisonne Company, the company allowed to sell to royal households. The hallmark of the Maltese Cross announces the greatness from beginning to end. Ando Jubei was one of the great masters of cloisonné enamellers of his time, in the Meiji Era 1868-1912. Gold and shakudo wires used featuring four panels decorated with phoenix and dragon motifs. The large goldstone panels add to the exquisite quality of the vase. Gold "tea dust" pioneered by Honda Yosabura and later used by the great Namikawa Yasuyuki sprinkled in the four panels. The use of silver, gold and white metal fittings attest to a vase made without compromise. This vase is museum quality and in excellent condition. Please excuse my photo glare and reflection. Measurements are approximate 8 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. Incredible gift for weddings, special occasions and a beautiful addition to any rare cloisonné collection.
