Antique 1800s Alfred Meakin England tea leaf covered butter dish, rare. Beautiful copper majolica tea leaf pattern. The tea leaf pattern was originaly produced by Anthony Shaw who registered the pattern in 1856. This beautiful pattern has been used by many English and American potters until the 20th century. This covered butter dish is a rare piece by Alfred Meakin and has a drainer piece usually with it, this one does not. There are no cracks or chips on the lid or bowl. There are burn stains on the inside of the lid and some glazing on both pieces. Please view all pictures as they are part of the discription. This antique butter dish is in good condition and would make a beautiful addition to any tea leaf collection. Measurements are 4 1/2 inch square 6 inches handle to handle and 4 1/2 inches tall. Exceptional Alfred Meakin collectible.
